Another way I help my therapy clients develop emotional resilience and insight is by helping them "stop being a cow."

Cows ruminate (chew) their food. We ruminate by constantly "chewing" or rehashing our thoughts, reliving past negative experiences, or recreating imaginary arguments.

Ruminating all day keeps us in that negative mindset. So working to let go of these negative (and unhelpful) thoughts helps us mentally unburden ourselves.
