In clinical psychology, we say "rigidity leads to pathology," meaning if we hold too tightly to one way of living, our behaviors eventually break down and become problematic.

Cognitive flexibility allows us to adapt. Our flexibility is, ironically, the only consistent aspect of who we are. Personality can change. We can learn new ways to cope with stress. We can become more compassionate or forgiving. We can learn new information or practice new skills.

Humans are built to adapt. Don't be rigid.
