One of the big things I work on with my therapy clients is the importance of developing autonomy and self-acceptance. If you're comfortable and happy with who you are when you're alone, you won't feel compelled to settle for or stay in a toxic relationship.

Too many of us stay in toxic relationships because we'd rather be miserable with someone than risk being alone.

Thanks for writing this article to help people deal with their loneliness so they don't feel compelled to go back or needlessly suffer over past relationships.
